August and September Quotes

August

Brielle: "I've never tried corn on the cob before.  But I've tried corn on the cob."

Haven is learning that Jesus knows everything.  Great truth, however, she's been using it to her advantage.  She's often heard saying "She's lying!  Jesus knows she's lying!"

Haven: "I couldn't stop drinking this water!  I was so thirsty!  I was starving thirsty!"

Brielle was talking about a night I heard a noise that sounded like a bird or an owl outside my room and it kept me awake.  Here was part of our conversation:

Brielle: "Last night there was an owl out there" (referring to whenever that happened)
Me: "Yes, or some kind of a bird."
Brielle: "Yeah, or some kind of an elephant."

September

We were reading about how tarantulas eat frogs and Brielle said "No!  They can't eat a frog!  I would save a frog if a snake was going to bite him!"

In preparation of going outside to see the lunar eclipse, Haven said "Mommy, thank you for letting us go to the moon!"

Brielle's Elsa costume was inside out and she told me "I was trying to inside it out and it wouldn't work."

Addysen: "Remember one time you told us there were these boxes we could pick movies out of?" (Redbox :-) )

Various September Pics

Haven's B all snuggled up!

As we were leaving preschool one day, Haven went running down the sidewalk, tripped and used her forehead to break the fall.  She got quite the goose egg from that one!  Yikes!

The cousins sure love going to IHOP after church many Sundays...primarily because of the balloon man who is there on Sundays!

Though Brielle was daytime potty trained quite a while back, she still struggled with staying dry all night.  So her goal was 7 nights in a row...then no more pull ups!  And she did it!!  Yay Brielle!  No more diapers or pull ups in this house!

Super Moon

Considering the rarity of getting to see something as amazing as the Supermoon, the girls got ready for bed and we headed down to a park to watch our white moon turn bright red.  It was such a neat thing to see!

The girls couldn't believe how bright the flash was when I tried to take pictures of them in the dark. :-)

But then they found it to be a funny game and were being a "bit" dramatic about the light. :-)

Imagination Festival

For the second year in a row, we met Cassandra downtown for the Imagination Festival.  They had so many activities for the kids to do!

Boxes and chalk so they could color on the boxes and then they hung them on rope from the trees...

Reptiles to pet...

Huge bubbles!

Building with PVC pipes...

Freedom Festival

Each year on the weekend closest to 9/11, Chick Fil A sponsors a Freedom Festival at our neighborhood park.  Clifford was there this year!

Haven climbing the rock wall...

And the girls got face / arm painting...

Not exactly the most professionally done face painting, but the girls were thrilled!

The girls watching the helicopter take off from the park. Haven cracked me up...imitating the helicopter. :-)

They had these big inflatable balls that the kids could get in and then roll around on the water in them.  It was quite a popular attraction so we ended up having to wait in line for an hour for them to have a turn.  Fortunately, the girls thought it was worth the wait and had so much fun!

During the festival, I experienced my scariest moment of my life.  Somehow Brielle got separated from the other girls and me and I couldn't find her - and the park was absolutely packed with people.  After running around to where we had been, people helping point me in the direction of where they saw her last, I finally found her - in the arms of a kind stranger on the stage, where they were just getting ready to announce that they had found her and try to find her parents.  I've never been so relieved in all my life when I saw her!  So thankful for the kind people who helped her and for God's protection over her in those minutes she was lost.

Cross Country

Addysen ran cross country again this year for Chipeta.  So fun to watch her!  She is still anything but competitive, but she had a lot of fun doing it.

My favorite participant in the race! :-)

Park Tours with Papa and Yia Yia

Papa and Yia Yia took all the granddaughters (and their Mama's :-) ) on park tours in Denver.  We found some really fun parks!

Park #1:

This park had a water feature the kids could play in.  Since this was only park #1 of the day, we told them they could walk in it and get their feet wet, but not get their clothes wet.

Those instructions worked out really well... :-)

Park #2:

Addysen and Haven went straight to the tire swings at every park and wanted to go faster and higher each time!  Cassandra and Brielle liked to go nice and slow on the tire swing...so opted out of riding with Addysen and Haven. :-)

Park #3:

She may be barely 3, but Brielle is pretty certain she's just as capable as big sisters at doing absolutely anything...

Park #4

Yia Yia and Auntie Natalie didn't want to get left out of the fun :-)

Such a fun day!
