A Visitor

Jeff's cousin, Steven, came in last week for a couple days from Yuma. They had a great time together...spring training game (Cubs, of course!), golfing, and of course, watching March Madness...all kinds of fun in this beautiful weather we've been having!

Happy Easter!

I love Easter...a day to take some time to remember...and celebrate that HE IS RISEN!

Thanks be to our Savior for His amazing love...that God would send His son to die for us...sinful, helpless people who thankfully, because of Him, have Hope!

HE IS RISEN INDEED!!!

Halfway there!

This weekend marked 20 weeks...halfway to meeting our little girl! "They" say she's now about 10 inches from head to toe and weighs about 10 1/2 ounces...about the length of a banana and almost the weight of a medium size sour cream. :-) Her little body I know is growing...I feel her quite often! Jeff has been able to feel her quite a bit lately too which has been fun! I laugh though because I think she knows exactly the worst times to wake up and start kicking because I always want to laugh when I feel her kick...it's just such a cool feeling...yet she always starts doing it when I'm in a meeting at work and have to keep it to myself and still concentrate on what's going on! :-)

On a side note, Jeff always asks every day how both me and baby girl are doing...he's going to be such a great dad and as always such a wonderful husband!!

Big News...I'm Getting Bigger!!

We went to the doctor yesterday and I was SO excited...I had gained 5 pounds since my last appointment!! Hooray!! So now I'm up a net 3 pounds (I had lost 2 pounds since I had found out I was pregnant). Obviously the important thing was that the baby was gaining weight which we found out she was at the ultrasound, but it still put my mind at ease to know that I actually was gaining weight too...a feat I've not had much luck in most of my life!

The heatbeat was really strong yesterday...so fun to hear that every time! This time though it was pretty funny. The doctor went to find the heartbeat and 2 or 3 times she'd find it and then baby girl would move and she would lose the heartbeat....so she'd have to hunt her down again...and then baby girl would move again. She finally tracked her down and her heartbeat was strong...and pretty fast! One active little girl! :-)

Adorable!

So one of the things that I do love about little girls is the completely adorable PINK clothes!! And the little dresses...oh, the dresses...so cute!! Our friends Dave and Krista gave us this completely adorable little dress the day we found out we were having a little girl...SO cute!!! There is a story behind this one....but that's for another time......for now, we'll just focus on how completely adorable the dress is and how I can't wait to be able to dress baby girl Platt up! :-)

Update on Baby Platt!

We had our ultrasound yesterday - a day shy of 19 weeks. This was the "big" ultrasound where we found out that we are having a.............

GIRL!!!!!

We are just so excited and now are minds are spinning with everything girl!! I really though it was going to be a boy so it was a surprise to me...Jeff thought it was going to be a girl though...as my brother, Johnny said...it's that old "father's intuition"...ha! :-) Regardless, we are thrilled!!!

It was such a great experience and we were just SO thankful to hear that all the baby's measurements were "normal" (my ultimate favorite word!!), she is developing "normal" and her weight is even just a little bit above normal (which has been a concern for me since I haven't gained much, if any, weight). She's 9 ounces and "they" say that at 19 weeks they're typically about 8- 8 1/2 ounces. We are just so thankful that the Lord has so richly blessed us with this little, healthy girl...so thankful!! Below are some pics of our little girl!!

She's already ready to cheer for her Daddy's teams...since they're always going to be #1!! :-)

Here's her beautiful profile...isn't that cool how you can see her nose, lips, ears??

And her little foot and leg sticking up

These next two are so cool...at the end, the tech put on the 4D view...so you can literally see what she looks like! So cool! One of my co-workers says she thinks 4D pics look like claymations...the ultrasound tech said at this age, they kind of look like aliens because they're so little. Either way, I think this is the most beautiful little claymation or alien I've ever seen!!! :-)

18 weeks

Baby Platt is growing...and I feel huge! Ok...so I know I'm going to look back on this in a few months and laugh...but for someone who's literally never had a stomach, this does feel quite large!! :-) It's this strange, but cool feeling all in one!!

I'm feeling really good overall, aside from being completely exhausted. I've honestly felt more exhausted (tired just doesn't seem an appropriate word here) this last week and a half than even in my first trimester...I think the baby is going through a big growing spurt...and taking all the energy out of me! All completely worth it though as long as Baby Platt is getting from me what he or she needs!! :-)

At this point, they say (and we all know that "they" are always right) that the baby is about 5 1/2 inches long and 7 ounces...about the size of a green pepper. I couldn't really relate what the ounces would equate to...until I realized that's about the weight of a small sour cream container! I'm all about relating these things to some type of food, etc.! Ha! :-)

Movement!

Last Sunday afternoon (17 weeks), I was propped up on the couch working on my computer when I felt a strange feeling...felt like a little bitty hammer inside me...just this little poking. I quickly put my hand where I felt the movement...and there it was again...Baby Platt was moving...and I could feel it!!! What an INCREDIBLE feeling!!!! It came several more times...probably about 7-8 times in a row...I just started laughing each time I felt it! Jeff was outside so I went and got him and then layed down the same position and put his hand where I had felt it...and sure enough, he got to feel it as well!!!

Over the course of this last week, I've felt it more and more and different kinds of movement...some feels like I think what they call that "flutter", sometimes it feels like waves under my skin, sometimes it feels like that little poking....all if which is just so awesome! The other day I was at work concentrating on what I was reviewing and all of a sudden...the poke...it literally made me jump! :-) It's such an amazing feeling and every time I feel this little one I just feel so blessed...and thankful...and immediately prayerful...that the Lord will keep developing this little one to be a healthy baby that we can't wait to meet in a few months!!
